We are facing a new paradigm in retail. One of the most relevant is based on the need to offer spaces with which people can identify, generating a sense of community and belonging in which users feel recognized not only physically, but also emotionally.
To this end, the process of reconceptualizing Megapark Barakaldo involves constructing a local narrative, while also addressing the need to restructure the retail sector in order to respond to increasingly demanding and resilient consumers.

Commercial spaces must establish themselves as places of proximity, reconnecting with the neighborhood. They cannot be understood as isolated entities, but rather as local hubs that establish both physical and conceptual links with the city. These spaces integrate urban elements and new uses into their design, evoking emotions through their operators and offering memorable environments.
From this community-centered view of retail, a question arises on an urban scale: is it possible to respond not only with commercial spaces, but also with places where people can work and develop?
This means serving the community. Retail provides a solid foundation for responding to environmental challenges and implementing far-reaching technological solutions that consumers demand and are willing to embrace.
Keeping up with the times has been a guiding principle from the original design to the renovation of Megapark Barakaldo. This approach is reflected not only in the concepts, but also in the selection of materials and the configuration of spaces. More modern and elegant finishes have been incorporated, with warm tones that create a more welcoming and homely atmosphere within the shopping center.
The conscious use of materials seeks to provoke emotional responses and guide user behavior within different areas.
These interventions humanize the experience, allowing for moments of pause and social interaction in the commercial context.
The new architectural identity is reinforced by a refined façade treatment. The integration of contemporary finishes and a careful selection of textures and tones elevates the aesthetic sophistication of the building.
The repetitive elements characteristic of this typology are transformed into attractive and visually stimulating components.
Lighting plays a fundamental role in shaping the spatial experience. The careful arrangement of warm light fixtures and ambient lighting solutions enhances the volumetric qualities of the space.
Semi-enclosed corners are designed to provide a sense of intimacy without losing visual continuity with the surrounding program.
