The Promenade:
Project report
Located along the coast of Huelva, between the marshes and the Odiel River, this architectural project is conceived as an intervention that goes beyond mere construction to integrate naturally into its landscape and cultural environment. More than a collection of commercial and office spaces, the proposal seeks to establish a deep connection with the place, respecting its history, materiality, and landscape.
The uniqueness of this enclave lies not only in its scenic value, but also in its strong local identity and historical legacy. Based on this premise, the project design is founded on criteria of sustainability and contextual sensitivity, with the aim of creating a space that is coherent from an aesthetic, functional, and environmental point of view.

Synergy in Action
Towards a New Dimension in Retail
ZAL Huelva is establishing itself as a strategic hub for the logistical concentration of industries, services, and platforms, based on the idea of synergy and a firm commitment to reinventing the commercial experience.
The project is structured around mixed-use spaces for offices and retail, unified by a porous design that incorporates courtyards, corridors, terraces, and viewpoints, creating a network of opportunities and encounters. This intervention responds to the paradigm shift in the retail sector, where experience and connection with the community take on a central role. ZAL Huelva integrates uses such as gastronomy, health, education, community, and creativity, going beyond the traditional concept of a shopping center.
Inspired by local history and the close relationship with the marshes and the port environment, the project reinforces its commitment to sustainability and openness to the landscape. Strategies such as the incorporation of low-maintenance vegetation, water features for thermal regulation, and aromatic trails that promote biodiversity consolidate this sustainable approach.
At the same time, the concepts of mobility and place creation are reinforced by improving access from the city and creating memorable spaces that promote collective well-being. The convergence of industry, commerce, and leisure enhances the project's appeal to visitors, workers, and residents, positioning ZAL Huelva as an innovative benchmark.
In essence, the architecture transcends functionality to become an experiential commercial space, where the synergy between users and operators is reinforced through the co-creation of content and continuous adaptation to new demands. With this approach, ZAL Huelva activates its immediate environment, generating vitality and opportunities for economic and social development, without losing its cultural roots or respect for the environment.
By dissolving the boundaries between interior and exterior, the project opens up to light, climate, and the memory of the place, establishing itself as an inclusive, dynamic, and contemporary shopping center capable of dialoguing with both the city and the constantly changing estuary.
The layered facades incorporate slender vertical elements with integrated lighting that accentuate the pedestrian walkway, while intermittent green areas and rest zones reinforce the sense of place and encourage community interaction.
Visitors walk along a landscaped promenade designed to protect them from the wind and showcase the local vegetation, creating a welcoming threshold between the urban fabric and the new commercial buildings.
The integration of interactive installations linked to local identity reinforces the project's commitment to community and creativity. Soft, organic forms are incorporated alongside durable materials, maintaining a continuous visual relationship with the surrounding commercial and leisure spaces.
A continuous canopy, with a gently curved line, transforms into a small overhang that unifies the building's silhouette. The combination of clean vertical surfaces and glass emphasizes the project's values of accessibility and spatial fluidity.
The overlapping volumes reveal a unique landscaped roof. The façade treatments, with metallic accents and neutral-toned surfaces, are combined with generous vegetation that softens the commercial environment.
The totem emerges above the landscaped parking lot as a landmark and a statement of identity for the complex.
