Vesper House:
Project report

As human beings, we are deeply influenced by the atmospheres that surround us, almost unconsciously shaping our perceptions and modifying our attitudes depending on the space we inhabit.

At Vesper House, materiality plays a central role in responding to these principles and fulfilling two main functions: defining the atmosphere of the home and making each space intuitively recognizable.

To achieve these objectives, a soft color palette dominates the walls, ceilings, and floors. This color combination creates a natural and pleasant environment, where a sense of calm spreads throughout the home.

A Dialogue Between Tradition and Comfort

Materiality, atmosphere, and the art of transforming space become the cornerstones of the project.

The walls are covered with natural lime-based mortar, which can vary in tone depending on the light, combined with white paint in the brightest rooms. The floors are made of wood, while stone is used in certain areas, such as the bathrooms. These combinations of materials, light, and color transform as the user moves through the house, creating diverse experiences through the overlapping and rhythm of the walls in Vesper House.

Winter cabins are a symbol of warmth and comfort, evoking the idea of a refuge in contact with nature. Rehabiting a cozy winter retreat means creating a place where every corner invites you to relax and enjoy the warmth of home.

The aim is to design a space that is not only functional, but also establishes a deep connection with nature and with the well-being that comes with cold days, approached from a specific aesthetic perspective: the Aspen style.

The renovation of a building involves restoring its architectural and heritage essence, adapting it to current needs without losing its historical character. This process includes the restoration of original elements using traditional techniques, as well as the incorporation of technological improvements that guarantee energy efficiency and comfort. Reoccupation, on the other hand, focuses on rediscovering and optimizing the use of existing spaces, bringing the past back to life through small gestures that transform the place, prioritizing the human experience and adapting spaces to new realities.

Seen from the street, the house has a rustic feel. The goal is to transform it into a warm and cozy mountain cabin.

The original state of the house before the renovation showed the characteristics typical of a mountain construction, especially in the attic, where wood and warm tones predominated.

The renovation incorporates neutral and warm colors and materials to reinforce the welcoming atmosphere, introducing elegant finishes through a careful selection of furniture.

The lighting design balances warmth and functionality, combining soft ambient lighting with accent lighting that highlights textures and materials, reinforcing an intimate atmosphere.

The collage explores the transformation of a mountain retreat, layering rich wood textures in deep brown tones with carefully selected furnishings and subtle accents in lighter shades, evoking warmth and refined rusticity.

The authentic character of the house has been preserved, integrating contemporary elements in perfect harmony.
